Phil recorded his first CD in 2001 entitled Point the Way, produced by Steve Manshel, formerly with the Colorado band Firefall. The title track garnered airplay in July 2002, hitting the #13 spot on the Adult Contemporary FMQB chart and has been played on 66 stations around the country. A highlight for Phil in the recording process, was to have Richie Furay, of Buffalo Springfield and Poco fame, sing background vocals. Richie is prominently featured on the CD & live performance favorite "Her Dance".
He is currently working on his second CD to be released in the near future, entitled “Smile”, which is exactly what it will make you do, says the artist. Phil’s original Christmas song “Oh Silent Night” went to #23 after only three weeks on the FMQB Adult Contemporary Chart, in December 2007. His newest release, the beautiful love song "By My Side" which was produced by and features Warren Hill on the sax, a chart topping Smooth Jazz and Adult Contemporary artist, is now available on iTunes.
Phil's spiritual journey had taken a severe left turn over a cliff in the mid 90's. His CD "Point the Way", although not intended to have any spiritual connections, became an obvious indication that the songs had documented a life that was filled with unanswered questions, addictions and substance abuse and a heart that was searching for love. Looking in all the wrong places, Phil was highly influenced by Richie Furay, a Calvary Chapel pastor, who sang background vocals on the CD. Richie's life was such a testimony of God's love and grace, that Phil was "pointed the way" back to God. Within a few years after the release of the CD, God began to open new doors for Phil's music, which led to his current position as Worship Leader and Music Director at Riverside Baptist Church in Denver, CO.
Phil has also been playing solo, duo with his son Vaughn Tromburg or with
the PT Cruiser Band throughout
Phil’s music will touch your heart and have you coming back for more. He says, “Good things come to those who live right, work hard and put their heart and soul into everything they do,” which is precisely how this artist will continue to pursue his musical aspiration. "Oh and it doesn't hurt to have your life in the hand of God ... he always takes care of his children and leads you to the most unexpected places."
